Salobreña – Summer nights on the Costa Tropical

What’s happening on the coast?

Sitting on the terrace at Casa Tagomago it can be hard to believe that the Mediterranean Sea is so near! At just a 30 minute drive from Restábal, Granada’s Costa Tropical is well within your reach.

Nip down to picturesque Salobreña for a swim, a stroll along the promenade or a visit to the small municipal market. The long sandy beaches are dominated by the old town, clustered on a rocky outcrop 160 metres high. Topped by the imposing ruins of a 10th. Century Moorish castle, you’ll find the steep climb through the narrow streets well worth the effort!

The Costa Tropical is enticing all year round but of course, it’s in the summer when things really get exciting. Spend a day on one of the beaches, there are several to choose from, laze over a delicious paella or a dish of fresh fish at one of the beach bars…… And, how about a taste of the local night life? From July to September, Salobreña organises two events that we think you might enjoy.

Every Thursday at 22.00 the old town becomes a stage for the festival Música en los Rincones (literally Music in the Corners). Each week features a different, picturesque corner or street and a different musical group, filling the town with the sounds of jazz, flamenco, pop rock or tango.

Goods on sale at the market include textiles, costume jewellry, shoes and arts and crafts. An event that you can take in on a cool evening stroll along the promenade.

These are just two of the many activities to be enjoyed on a visit to the coast of Granada.
